I don't think a 2 stage format will work: If you add one qualifying round, you would still have 2A/1B teams entering in round 2 - so there could easily be a div 5/6 team matched with them. Doesn't really get rid of the issue. Perhaps just Divs 1-4 should be in the cup. This year that was 54 teams. F...

I've seen the pros and cons of a split club for 15 years, so I think I can dismiss the idea for other clubs. It probably only "works" for the AUSC because it's always been that way.

But like I said, the cap idea (albeit higher) should be beneficial to create more 2 team clubs.

Oh God no :o From personal experience, I would never recommend a break up of a club into multiple 'colours' as per AUSC... it's just a big headache. For starters - how would you break up your club? You would be producing 2 poorer quality clubs. How do you allocate new players? Who gets which pitches...

So they had ~13 players. It would be better for all if they forfeited their B's for the rest of the year, and tried to have at least one good match per week.
