The Final

Post by Zorro's best mate »

Went to Burton today to watch the final....
Great game and well done to Grads Red for coming from behind to take the honours.....
There was a few supporters there for both teams and the Barker guys made some noise on that far side which was hilariopus for a neutral but the Grads Red Number 2 and 11 wouldn't have seen it as positivley!!!
Well done both teams and good night till next season CSL

Agreed.

Good game by two evenly matched teams. Glad it was won in extra-time (but not so glad by who ;) ), not on penalties (no one deserves to go through that).

Congrats to Grads Red and commiserations to Barker.

Thanks and good night to the CSL for ... oh, 4 months or so ... and then it'll be pre-season (not forgetting the meetings to be had before then ... you won't forget, will you?!)

:)

Went along to watch the final too.

Both teams were excellent considering the heat and the length of the game. 2-2 at the final whistle was a fair result. Shame a team had to lose, but well done to the Div 1 side to step up and not be rolled over by a Div 2 side on a big day.

Mt Barker had a good side for Div 2 and they will be pretty solid next season if the guys all stay around. The fans they brought along were on good song and cup finals done come around to many clubs in their lifetimes, so why not enjoy the day as best you can. Just imagine how noisy they would have been if they had won!

Thought that the CSL could have been a bit more thorough for such a big occasion and at least done a group photo, team sheet read out on a mic, hand shakes from each team along the line before kick off, use of a mic at the end and finally from what I have heard is that there was not enough medals for all the players and nothing for the club to take a 'runners up plaque' as a memento. Its a final for gods sake. It takes a lot for both clubs to get there and nothing big from the CSL Committee to make the day extra special.

Hindmarsh would have been nice too in order to give the league some extra credibility from the FFSA and the amateur league teams who all play semi's & finals there every year.

That's enough ranting from me and just happy it was a great game of football and a sunny day!

cheers

Bob.
