Buzzy - Why did you suspect that the ref wouldnt turn up?
I don't want to go into too much detail until I hear back from FFSA in case there was a valid reason but there was an issue with the same ref in a previous week.

The ref who did 1A and 1B didn't seem too keen at first but as soon as we explained that the priority was 1A/1B he was happy to do it.

Assuming there wasn't a good reason, its a bit odd to not have a referee during cup round that's for sure

No ref for the ROCSC 1B VS MT B 3 Cup game, which was extremely annoying. Thankfully the game was played in good spirits.

Poor show by the ref no show again.... especially on a cup weekend where there was a low ,load on the refs.
Exceptionally well done to the guy fom Rostrevor who reffed the Rostrevor v Mt Barker game... fair, repsected and no gripes from either team which is great!

The league wants 2 members of a club to enroll in a referee course as a back up should there be a no show Ref.

That's well and good. But if a member of a club steps in to be a ref for a game then they (or the club) should be reimbursed the ref fee by the league. This is the only way that this improve the standard of this league.

You can't expand the league and maintain a reputation with no refs.

If the league want us to have a ref on stand by then they home team should be reimbursed. Simple as that. When the league start spending money on ref no shows then this might give them a bit of motivation.

No referee at Norwood for div 2. Well done csl looks like the referee situation is all under control. Probably had something to do with friday night game cancellations. What a joke....lets stand up to the ffsa and not be their puppies!!!!

I played for Pembroke vs Norwood in the 2B fixture on Saturday. Many thanks to Norwood for providing what I believe was one of their 2A players to referee the match. A very good job done, no complaints from either side, and the game was played in good spirits.

Do we have an answer to why there was no referee at Norwood on Saturday? Any explanation or excuse? Was there a referee allocated? Was anyone notified about the situation because Norwood were expecting a referee? Or are we just going to ignore it and hopefully it will all go away. We wouldn't want to upset the ffsa because they are so good to us and do such a great job.
As for the fill in UNOFFICIAL referee he was fine and yes we have had much worse official referees over the years. But there is something not right about having some bloke from a club refereeing an OFFICIAL game.
