beyondblue Charity Round

Post by DMW »

Pulteney are supporting this weekends FFSA beyondblue Charity Round that will be conducted across all competitions this coming weekend, by donating proceeds from the BBQ and Drink Sales.

The Charity Round provides the opportunity for the Football Family to join together and raise awareness for this worthy cause.

In previous years Football Federation SA(FFSA) has conducted a charity round in support of the Call to Arms initiative. Following a review of the charities that FFSA support, the Board has endorsed a decision to support the charity beyondblue.

beyondblue is working to reduce the impact of depression and anxiety in the community by raising awareness and understanding, empowering people to seek help, and supporting recovery, management and resilience.

Depression is the leading cause of disability worldwide. In Australia, it is estimated that 45 per cent of people will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime. In any one year, around 1 million Australian adults have depression, and over 2 million have anxiety.

Clubs involved in the Charity Round are: Adelaide Cobras, Adelaide Comets, Adelaide Hills Hawks, Campbelltown City, Cumberland United, Gawler, MUWFC, Noarlunga United, Para Hills East, Para Hills Knights, Para Hills United, Pulteney Grammar, Raiders, Salisbury United, Salisbury Inter, South Adelaide, Sturt Lions, Sturt Marion, The Cove FC, West Torrens Birkalla, Western Strikers.

FFSA commends clubs involved in the Charity Round and asks the Football Community attending games at the mentioned clubs, where possible, to donate to the worthy cause.

Most Australians have had some experience with anxiety, depression or a related condition, whether they've experienced it themselves or had family, friends or work colleagues go through it. beyondblue’s work is aimed at achieving an Australian community that understands depression and anxiety, empowering all Australians, at any life-stage, to seek help. It’s not surprising that someone in your club may have a personal story relating to their own battle or that of someone close to them.

By supporting beyondblue, we are able to assist through their programs, research and campaigns in increasing awareness of depression and anxiety, reducing stigma and discrimination, improving health seeking, reducing impact, disability and mortality, facilitating learning, collaboration, innovation and research.

As an illness that truly effects us all, we ask all clubs and associations support Charity Round and undertake fundraising activities in the lead up to and during the Charity Round.

Good stuff Pulteney - Hope all went well and some good funds were raised.

Maybe each year the CSL should pick a charity and have a round dedicated to it.

Clubs raise money and then 1 big payment is made from all the clubs.
