1B - 4 teams equal top with 3 to go

Post by chelsea »

1B league is very tight.

4 teams on 33pts with 3 rounds to play.

Could be the 1st time a championship is decided on goal difference. I cant remember this happening in any div for a long time.

Currently all separated by goal difference.

Pembroke +27
Rostrevor +23
Mercedes +20
Uni White +16

Last 3 games

Pembroke - Grads Red (A) / Rostrevor (H) / Uni White (H)
Hardest run home - Playing 2 of the other top 4 sides

Rostrevor - Mt Barker (H) / Pembroke (A) / Grads Red (A)
Playing 1 top 4 side

Mercedes - SHOC (H) / Grads Red (H) / Mt Barker (A)
Easiest run home - Not playing anyone in top 4

Uni White - Regency (A) / Unley (H) / Pembroke (A)
Will get their goal diference up after playing Regency.
Playing 1 top 4 side in what could be a grand final on the last day.

Too hard to pick as even teams outside the top four can get results against the top 4.

Could be the 1st time goals decide the winner.

Division 1B goes down to the last day nearly every year but I don't think it has been decided on goal difference in the last 10 years or so. I've never known 1A and 1B to be so evenly matched before. Exciting stuff. In both divisions the top 8 teams are very much capable of taking points off one another. And whilst Immanuel and Regency have struggled this year in both divisions, they have certainly not been easy-beats like some previously relegated clubs were.

Division 4 was decided on goal difference in 2011 and 2012 but I don't know if there are any other cases of goal difference deciding a championship in the CSL.

Thanks for reminding me Ross, Those were the years in Div 4 where the battle was between Mercedes and Pembroke.
