I don't think a 2 stage format will work: If you add one qualifying round, you would still have 2A/1B teams entering in round 2 - so there could easily be a div 5/6 team matched with them. Doesn't really get rid of the issue.

Perhaps just Divs 1-4 should be in the cup. This year that was 54 teams. First round: top 18 teams have a bye. 2nd round: everyone else in.
That's it!

The format is always a point of discussion and maybe there is a difference (or indifference) between players and the club reps?
I for one enjoy the games against higher grade teams.. we lost 10-0 and ended up with 9 players on the pitch (all injures before anyone gets excited) BUT we had a game, got a little closer to match fitness and got out the house on a Saturday!!
Well done to Thebarton beating one of the Cups form teams of the last 3 years (winner and twice semi finalists).. Another new team coming good.
Roll on the league and good luck to all :)

Yep agreed...
those of us from the lower teams don't mind the odd belting.. It's more than made up for every time we defeat a higher ranked team.. Happy with the current format.

There needs to be one cup to detirmine the best Colleagiate team in the league. Having a second cup is pointless, like the UEFA cup - means absolutely nothing. Your not the best team in Europe, but here's a cup to make you feel good anyway.

The only other thing is to have 2 x Cup Leagues with the winners of each cup league to face off in the Collegiate Cup.
