A third of way in

Post by Firstarter »

SO.... we are at or around the third of the way through the 2017 season....
Div 1 - Uni Whites are leading the Div 1 pack and looking good at this stage, unbeaten in their 6 outings... A game against the struggling Blues followed by 3 weeks that may define their season against Rostrevor, WG in the cup then Grads Red..
At the bottom, Whats happened to Unley?? Struggling and well off the pace in 1A, 1B and Div 3 at this stage with a gap just starting to open between them and safety in Div 1.

DIv 2 - Its tight at the top with any one from 3 or 4 within a game of each other in a division that will end up tight to the end. Top of the table 6 pointer last weekend between the North City and Mt Barker guys has created the 3 point gap but its wide open...

Div 3 - Windsor Gardens unbeaten again but Pembroke keeping them honest.... Already a 2 horse race and the blockbuster game is tomorrow with a genuine 6 pointer between the two front runners. WG have a player suspended after the Unley game last week but it will a game to watch! Unley again struggling but not a mile off from a pack that includes Uni Whites and Fulham.

Interesting round coming up and the next 4 weeks will be key to who can open up gaps etc. as the winter malaise sets in and clubs with depth begin to wield their annual advantage as players go 'missing' around all the clubs!!

Uni White are going well in Div 1A but they have a leaky defence. They even conceded 3 goals to Grads Blue. If they lose one or more of their next three games (Windsor in the cup, Sacred Heart and Rostrevor) then we will see what they are really made of. Grads Red and Rostrevor will push them all the way and Uni White are not experienced at winning league titles.

Mt Barker are looking strong in Div 2A but the second promotion spot will be interesting.

Bit early to declare Div 3 a two horse race. Vipers are well in the mix. Windsor seem to always have the edge though. Will be interesting to see how they go in the cup versus Uni White 1A.

Pembroke well on top in division 4 with everyone else taking points off one another.

Maybe a three horse race in division 5, with Immanuel the favourites.

Uni White won convincingly against Windsor and only conceded one goal, so hats off to them. Windsor emphatically won the yellow card count though.

Other cup results went largely as expected, with some tight games in the all division 1A clashes. Some big games coming up in the last 8.

Biggest shock of the weekend was in division 5. The mighty Doves held by Mt Barker.

Rostrevor 7-0 winners over Uni White?!!! Was a goalkeeper red carded or something like that?

A clear top 3 in division 1A at the half way point of the season. If it goes down to the last week of the season then the rematch between Uni White and Rostrevor will be interesting.

Well done to Vipers for taking points off Windsor.

The cup games this week will be interesting. Norwood will give Unley a good test, but Unley have turned their form around at the half-way point of the season, just like last year and they will now fancy themselves for a cup run.

Grads Red should win easily. Rostrevor versus Mercedes will be a cracker. Mercedes with only the cup left to play for will be up for it.

Uni White versus Immanuel will be telling. Will Uni White bounce back or will they ruin their season in the space of a week? If Immanuel score first, an upset could be on the cards.
