Div 1 Title Race

I can't remember a Div 1 title ever being this close! Grads Reds have the edge, they seem to have the easier run home (below). Has a CSL title ever been decided by goal difference?

Grads Red
Comets - 9th (7 nil win)
Pembroke - 5th (4 - 1 win)
Immanuel - 7th (5 -2 win)

Rostrevor
Mercedes - 3rd ( 3 - 2 win)
Grads Blue - 10th (4 - 1 win)
Uni White - 4th (7 nil win)

Grads Red have a +5 goal difference on ROCSC. That will be hard to make up against Mercedes. Never say never, it may very well come down to the last round.

The 1A title has been decided by 1 point several times, but I'm not sure it's ever been decided on goal difference. Certainly not since 2003, as the records on the CSL website go back that far.

Anything could yet happen, and then the two teams will face one another in the cup final too.

Why did the result between Rostrevor and Grads Red get overturned and Rostrevor awarded the 3-0 by forfeit?????

Grads red played Chad Bugjea who was already registered for Murray United in Victoria.
Not sure how they didn't know this but has probably cost them a championship now.

Does that matter? The CSL rules only refer to SA clubs, which implies it only matters if you've played for another club in SA:

A person that has been registered for a club in another South Australian football (soccer) competition in a given year is eligible to become registered for a CSL Club on or before 30 June of the same year, or any other date as may be determined by the Executive Committee from time to time.

If they have given it a forfeit then some rule must have been broken.

I would like to know exactly why Grads Red where deducted the points??? Playing Chad seems to be above board and no rules appear to have been broken in order for this forfeit decision to have occurred. I'm not associated with either the Reds or Rostrevor but would like to know what Grads did to warrant this decision to prevent it from happening again.

Can only sign free agents after 30th June. Means you can't be registered anytime before during the current season. Even the amateur league didn't let Chad register a few weeks ago so he clearly knew the rules.
